What is a Kegel exercise?
Johanina Wikoff
Q: I am curious about an exercise that my mother actually told me about. It is an exercise where a woman actually contracts and releases her vaginal muscles in order to maintain tightness of her vagina. It is also useful during sex with your partner. I have tried this with my husband and it seems to be pleasing for us.
A: These are Kegel exercises and are commonly taught to women to strengthen and prepare for childbirth. They also make orgasmic contractions stronger and bring blood to the genitals. Many men enjoy the feel of strong vaginal contractions during a woman's orgasm. By strengthening these pubococcygeal muscles men can develop the ability to stay erect longer and delay ejaculation. There are references to study in the articles and practices section of this site.
