What better day than Valentine’s to have a special Lover’s ritual to treat your partner to. Creating ritual in our modern lives is a fun way to re-create and honor our relationships. Once we have a little practice at bringing simple rituals into our lives they get easier and easier to create. Here’s a little help in getting started for Valentine’s Day.
The essence of ritual is to honor something: the Goddess/God energy we see in our partner, the relationship the two of you have created, the visions of the future you see together. What you want to acknowledge is the theme you should develop for the ritual.
Say you want to honor the hot, erotic energy between the two of you. You would then theme your evening to express this aspect. That might look like red light bulbs, champagne, chocolate dipped strawberries and a striptease and/or an erotic dance to tempt and titillate your partner. I’m not just talking to women here men. We women love to have our men dance for us, too. All it takes is a little hot music, say with some drumming in it, to get a guy going. Dress-up in sexy attire, maybe something that represents a favorite mythical character or God or Goddess. Pan, Kali, Venus, Bacchus, Neptune, Shiva or a blend - any one will do. If this doesn’t appeal to your playful side then simple put something really sexy on and then add a few layers over it. Remove them slowly…
On another note, maybe you’d like to create a candle light dinner with a twist. Try preparing a dinner that can be eaten with the fingers. You can feed each other and lick both your fingers and your partner’s! If you have a fireplace, put your dinner on a tablecloth on the floor in front of the fireplace. Serve wine or champagne, if you wish. This would also work well if you decide to just serve a sensual dessert in front of the fire. You may even want to use your bodies as the plates!
Your mood may lead you in the direction of a sensual pleasuring ritual. Again, state your intentions of gifting your partner with exotic and erotic touch. Find a rose, a piece of very soft fur, a new, small art style paint brush, a feather or anything you might assume would produce a VERY sensual feel. You might even want to have handy a few ice cubes (don't bring these out 'till the end and be careful, they can be shocking), some Bawdy Butter from the Tantra.com website catalog and a soft scent in a misting bottle. Gather at least four items. Set the scene by lighting candles, putting on soft erotic music and having something to nibble (strawberries, a little chocolate or some Mango pieces will do!) and something to drink close by. Blindfold your lover. Now use your imagination!
What ever you choose, be present and honor your partner. Really give them the attention they deserve. Fill them up with love and touch, tender words and playful kisses. Happy Valentine’s Night!
