Dance is one of the Sixty-four Arts enumerated in the Kama Sutra, the classical Indian books on the Art of Love. It is suggested that men and women alike be well-versed in as many of these arts as possible, for the Art of Love relies on the other arts for its fullest expression. In the book Sexual Secrets by Nik Douglas and Penny Slinger, it is stated that "Tantric sexual ritual implies the weaving together of the Sixty-four Arts into an all expansive ecstatic experience," and, "many ancient ecstasy teachings point to the harmonizing power inherent in mystic dance." Mystic dance, made up of natural movements and gestures mirrored by each partner, greatly aids in the harmonizing of mood. Personality limitations are quickly overcome by the joyous opening dance allows us.

Dance art speaks to the many forms of relationships we have in our lives. Those relationships can be with one's self, others or with our relationship to our divine source. For example, belly dance, which can often be seen performed by a solo artist, portrays the dancer's own emotions, erotic nature and the relationship to the viewer. There are even movements in this dance form that could be interpreted as the artistic rendering of female orgasmic bliss. In fact, some of these movements have the potential to bring on full body orgasmic waves! Other sacred dances of the East depict our relationship with archetypes of Gods and Goddesses - all various aspects and reflections of the divine within us. Dance always reflects life. In the sacred dances we experience creativity and express our divine nature in relationship to the universe.

In "sacred-erotic" dance, partners engage one another with loving and passionate intent for the purpose of "harmony of mood," as well as, the pure pleasure of moving sensually and creatively together. "Natural movements" express our attraction, affection and desire for our beloved. Eye gazing and synchronized breathing help to quickly align the energies of the two into one. This, in turn, opens the paths to deeper ecstatic experiences.

Try some erotic, sensual dance with your partner or on your own. After setting a sensual space for a tantric ritual, put on some "sacred-erotic" music that especially moves you. You may wish to use a prop, say a scarf or a fan to enhance your dance. It is deeply pleasurable to begin your ritual with such movement, adding breath, touch and eye contact, if partnered, to your interactions. Behold one another in mutual admiration. In both performing and private ritual, I have discovered through interacting with my partner that we have become attuned to one another in many subtle ways. Dance is an opening into uncharted, multi-dimensional realms of communication, connection and expression, which are truly ecstatic!
