Tantra.com got its start in April of 1995. The Web was new to all but a few people in those days. It's gone through many manifestations, just as life says all things must, and will continue to do so. Here's a brief history of how and why we came to be: Many years ago our filmmaking expertise and our love of the erotic brought us together with Charles and Caroline Muir. (“Us” refers to Suzie and Michael Heumann). The Muirs were interested in producing a film about Tantra and to begin the process, Caroline wanted a short film on some of the things she felt were important for budding Tantrikas to see but that she didn't always want to demonstrate (female ejaculation on command!) After attending several of their exquisite workshops, we undertook the filming. It was a profound experience for both of us; for Suzie it was literally life changing. As Michael's interest in the Web began to blossom, we decided to try our hand at our own marketing and so Tantra.com was started. Originally seen as a vehicle for our films, we quickly realized the power of the Internet and knew we had to do much more with the Web site. The aim became getting this life changing information out to the world. Tantra.com also became a vehicle for the many sincere and dedicated individuals who believe in the connection between sacredness, spirituality and sexuality. From our beginnings with the Muirs we went on to meet most of the well-known Western Tantra teachers. We studied with them and offered our services in any manner that seemed needed. Over the years we have had many profound experiences exploring Tantra, including a powerful Kundalini experience for Suzie at Margot Anand's birthday celebration on Maui years ago. We have created our own films on Tantra and the fruits of that labor of love are the films Ancient Secrets of Sexual Ecstasy and The Art of Orgasm for Men and Women. Suzie has gone on to manage and run the website and has written several books in recent years. She was the subject of an HBO Real Sex segment a few years ago and has produced a longer DVD from that footage that is now available as a premium offer when a subscriber joins our Member’s Area for a one-year period. Tantra.com has gone through many manifestations over the years since 1995. We are currently redesigning again. The latest incarnation will be complete by the end of 2006, boasting many new features and an easy-to-navigate design that will please returning visitors and first-timers alike. We continue to grow, prosper and thrive. We thank all of you for visiting and interacting with the site and with us in the many ways you do.
