Ashwagandha and the Brain:
Ashwagandha is used in India to treat mental deficits in geriatric patients, including amnesia. Researchers from the University of Leipzig in Germany, wanted to find out which neurotransmitters were influenced by Ashwagandha. After injecting some of the chemicals in Ashwagandha into rats, they later examined slices of their brain and found an increase in acetylcholine receptor activity. The researchers say, "The drug-induced increase in acetylcholine receptor capacity might partly explain the cognition-enhancing and memory-improving effects of extracts from Withania Somnifera (Ashwagandha ) observed in animals and humans."
-A study done in 1991 at the Department of Pharmacology, University of Texas Health Science Center indicated that extracts of Ashwagandha had GABA-like activity. This may account for this herb's anti-anxiety effects.
-A 2002 laboratory study indicates Ashwagandha stimulates the growth of axons and dendrites. A 2001 study in rodents showed Ashwagandha had memory boosting ability. A 2000 study with rodents showed Ashwagandha to have anti-anxiety and anti-depression effects. -In addition, one small study found Ashwagandha was able to reduce blood sugar and cholesterol levels, and had a diuretic effect.
Suggested Use:
Passion Rx Yohimbe can be used in a low dose over several days or it can be used in a higher dose for a quick effect within 1 to 4 hours.
- Fast Acting - Take 1 (women) or 1-2 (men) capsules one to four hours before planned activity (preferably on an empty stomach), or in the morning with expectations of intimacy any time of day. Some of the herbs in Passion Rx Yohimbe start working quickly, while others have their full effect 4 to 72 hours later. Passion Rx Yohimbe works very quickly (sometimes within a half hour) if you have taken a capsule the day before.
- Slow Libido Lift - Take 1/2 or 2/3 of a capsule each morning at least 15 minutes before breakfast. The capsules can be easily opened and mixed in water or juice. Some users feel aroused and ready for action within an hour, while for others it takes 2 to 10 days. Each person is unique in his or her response. On low doses, the best results are noticed the second, third, or fourth day. Some users with very low libido or erectile difficulties may need up to one or two weeks to notice the full effects.
